Happy Easter everyone!
My beloved Fuji X-T1 can only do double exposures, not multiple as some other cameras can (up to 10, I think?). My workaround was to take several double exposures and then merge them in a software. It was the first time I’ve tried it, but certainly not the last. So much fun to discover and play around with new techniques 🙂 If anyone has any advice on how to take/make ME’s, please share!

Me too, Brian! I never read the manual so just discovered the double exposure function 🙂 And then googled how to merge them.. It took me quite a while, I’m sure there are easier ways than how I did it. Hope someone who reads this can help!

These are great – I like the soft tones in the first one and, as The Energy Guy has already said, a quite impressive 3D feel.
I think that combination of double exposures in the camera and then further layering in Photoshop is the way to go. It certainly works in that first image. 🙂 🙂

Thanks so much, John! Do you merge RAW files in PS? When I take DE’s with my camera, they are saved as JPEGs. But I’m thinking maybe I’ll get better results if I take single shots in RAW and then layer those?

Yes, I do. But nearly everything I take is in RAW and I have never tried multiple exposures in the camera.
The benefit of working in PS is that it gives you maximum flexibility; doing it in camera leaves it more to that element of chance – or serendipity!
But I’d never argue that one is better than the other – different process, different result – different feel?
Use both methods – they can both produce amazing images. 😎

For the longest time I’ve tried to do as little editing as possible (and spending minimum time on the computer) so I still haven’t got a proper software (currently using a free tool) but I’m going to try Lightroom and see how that goes.

It’s great fun to try new things, and this is one I have not tried at all…I love the first one. I think my Olympus has a setting for multiple exposures, and one of these days….meanwhile, I have no wisdom to impart. 😉

I see you’re about to try Lightroom…watch out! What a learning curve it is! But it’s so worth it, I think. Be very careful about your importing and exporting – be sure you understand, as best you can, what LR does to organize files in the library. My files & folders are beyond messy, from too many hasty decisions.

Also, there are many, many books on LR (as you may have already noticed) so you can probably find one that suits your needs, and chances are good you can get it used online, and save a little money.

I dowmloaded a free trial and it’s driving me bonkers! 😮 It’ll definitely take time to learn how to use it. I’m also going to explore some other options, e.g. heard that AlienSkin X3 is great too 🙂

These are beautiful, Camilla! I got the X-T2 about a year ago. It has such cool features so I must double exposure more often. I do love the panorama and film simulation among other things. Great camera.

Thanks so much, Jane! 🙂 I haven’t used the X-T2 but I believe it’s quite similar (although improved in some ways) to the X-T1? It’s a great camera, no regrets of switching from Canon!
