longhorn
Here’s a male Longhorn (Mystacides azurea) enjoying the good weather here in Amsterdam ๐ย It’s a kind of caddisfly with very long antennae (which unfortunately are out of focus). They’re very small, only 6-9 mm long so even if they’re quite common you really have to look for them. I took this picture with a Raynox 250 attached on my Fuji lens, not really used to handle it yet (the 150 is much more forgiving and easier to use) but I hope I’ll get there.
great capture

I like this. And I’m not bothered about the blur on the VERY long antennae. The soft background adds something to the sharpness of the insect.
Nicely done! ๐

Thanks John! The antennae are more than twice as long as the body, I need to learn how to get everything in focus! ๐

Great shot as always. I admire your patience, I bet they don’t always hold a pose for you!

Thanks Tony! Unfortunately they don’t, but that’s part of the fun.. Never know what pictures I’ll come home with ๐

I think you always do a great job…the out of focus antenna tips are nice, actually. But I’m sure you’ll get to where you want to be with the 250 – always a learning curve, right?

Thanks so much, Lynn! I’ve seen other people getting great pictures with the 250, I hope I can do that too, or at least improve on the current outcomes ๐
