The Bearded reedling (Panurus biarmicus) is one of my favourite birds, and I was lucky to encounter a flock a couple of days ago!

I don’t have a long zoom lens, so these images are heavily cropped (~30% of the original image!) though still reasonably sharp so I’m pretty pleased with the outcome.

  4. Congrats, even heavily cropped they are wonderful photos. Since I’ve been lucky to get them even halfway in focus, I know how hard it can be to “catch” these lttle cuties. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Thank you! Yes it’s hard, they move around a lot and always seem to be half hidden in trees and bushes where I can’t get close. But they are cute! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I like these little guys – must have been quite difficult to get both sexes in view, and still (relatively!) for long enough to photograph them. Pretty colors!

    • Thanks Lynn! It was difficult to get these shots without a long lens, they are quick and always in “difficult” places. Still hoping to find one perching nicely in good light ๐Ÿ™‚
