Smile! The world is a beautiful place (^_^)

The Chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs) are cheerful visitors in my backyard. There are no feeders here but it doesn’t look like they’ve had any problems finding food anyway… plump and cute little birdies!

  1. Beautiful little birds, Camilla, and wonderful shots. Now that I have switched from photographing to photographing birds, I am remembering how tough it is to get relatively unobstructed shots.

    • Thanks Mike! It’s a constant struggle, and I’ve only succeeded getting a clear shot a few times. My favourite birds are small and like to play hide and seek in trees and bushes. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I think this is a pretty bird with its subtle colourings.Lovely light on the first and you really got down low on that last shot, agree with Mike about the challenge of getting unobstructed images.Good work.

    • Thanks Jane! Its colours are a bit faded now in the winter. During the breeding season, the colours become vivid as the feather tips wear away to reveal their bright plumage.

    • I think all birds are! I love to see pictures of birds we don’t have over here but are quite common in other countries, like e.g. Bluejay and Northern Cardinal.

  6. Oh these are all great shots but the best for me is the first one- such pretty colors. Good job.

    • Thanks Edwin! I got down on the ground to take that picture, got a bit dirty but it was worth it. ๐Ÿ˜‰
