Smile! The world is a beautiful place (^_^)

Last month I posted a picture of a juvenile bird and said I’d post a another one of an adult later. Well, now it’s later 😉 so here’s an adult European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) I photographed in the South of Portugal where I spent the beginning of October. Quite some transformation, right? 🙂

More pictures from Portugal will follow in the next coming posts.

    • I had to wait almost half an hour before I could get a shot from that angle. 🙂 They tend to hang sideways or upside down when they eat! And often on the other side of the plant from the photographer..

  5. Wow now that is a colorful bird. I like the plants in the photo to show the areas whee the bird looks for food. Looking forward to the coming posts featuring Portugal.

  7. So similar to our American goldfinches, and in the same type of habitat.

    • Actually the two are in separate subgenera and are not directly related. I hope I get to see an American goldfinch one day!
