  4. Very nice close ups of the house sparrow which goes by that name in the states. Actually a very smart bird. But thye drive away our naitve birds that are cavity nesters because this little bird like to nest in a cavity if one can be found. Othewise they nest any and every place. They were imported from Europe in the late 1800’s and are now known as trash birds along witht the imported starling. Just a bit of FYI. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Yvonne! In the old days, this little bird was a bad omen, it was said to bring misfortune, bad weather, or death. In France it was said this bird was created by the devil. Luckily for the bird, those superstitions are over now. πŸ˜‰

  5. Ah! The much maligned little Sparrow. Sometimes known as LBJs – or little brown jobs! But I love them, and we’re always pleased to see them in the garden on the feeders. Only my opinion, of course πŸ™‚
    btw – two nice captures.

I like the way you do those close captations with birds and flower, there is always something in the backgroung that does add to the photo

  9. On the road again? I have a soft spot for ordinary birds, like these sparrows, and you did a wonderful job in capturing their beauty in an interesting way (I love the man-made elements in the shots–their shapes and colors add a lot to the images.)

    • Thanks Mike! I went to Spain for a couple of days, now back in A’dam again. These sparrows are ordinary but nevertheless cute to look at!

  13. I love the setting of the second shot, Camilla: that fountain is precious! Also, great job with your P&S – the perfect demonstration that it is the photographer, not the camera… πŸ˜‰
