    • Thanks Victor! ๐Ÿ™‚ We have loads over here, these pictures were taken in the same place so I barely had to move between the shots.

  3. Cute little snails! I love their different colored/ patterned “houses!” ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thanks Julie! ๐Ÿ™‚ There are so many different patterns and colours, with a bit more patience one could make a much bigger collage..

  4. Gorgeous colors of the snails that only nature can produce. The varous colors would be so pretty in a tile floor or in clothiing or just whatever.

    • It can never be said too many times: Mother Nature is the best designer! So many lovely colours, patterns and clever innovations… ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It would be very handy to have your own house with you at all times.. You’d feel like home everywhere ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Btw, reminds me of Jack Nicholson in the Bucket List: “What does a snail have to do to reincarnate? Leave a perfect trail of slime?” ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thanks Rebecca! And isn’t it nice for the snails, to feel at home wherever they go! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great idea to shoot snails ๐Ÿ™‚ Lovely pics.

  9. Wow … I really didn’t realize that there is so much variety in snail shells. I shall have to look more closely the next time I pluck one off my hostas!

    August 4, 2013 at 8:27 PM

    • There are thousands of different varieties, I’m sure you can find several different ones in your garden. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Lovely set of images Camilla, love the title of the post ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Thanks Mark! ๐Ÿ™‚ I wasn’t trying to be clever, we actually call them “snail houses” and I translated directly into English.. Remembered later that the proper word is “shells”!

  11. Lovely colours and textures. And I like the way the jagged edge of the leaf almost frames the snail in your first shot! ๐Ÿ™‚

    August 4, 2013 at 10:03 PM

    • Thanks so much, John! I like the leaf too, only wished the background was less bright.. I must learn how to use Elements, so that could be fixed. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Like all gardeners I am really drawn by color and texture so yes, the photos are absolutely special.

  13. Calee these photographs are beautiful. The close-ups of the snail shells are exquisite.

    • Thanks so much, Mary! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad you like them!

  14. So pleasing, arranged this way.

  15. Like so many others, I love the spiral shape and beautiful patterns of these snail shells and the way in which you shot the images at slightly different angles. The tight crops and simple backgrounds really draw our eyes to the very graphic designs of the shells.

    August 5, 2013 at 2:04 PM

    • Thanks Mike! The idea was to capture many different kinds of snail shells in exactly the same angle, and make a big collage. But there were lots of stinging nettles around, so that’s why the angle differs.. And I only got four shells because after that I got distracted by dragonflies!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Dragonflies trumps all.

    • Me too! One of those very ordinary but amazing things in nature ๐Ÿ™‚

      August 5, 2013 at 8:37 PM

  17. Beautiful houses indeed!

  18. So unique — each one! Wonderful photos, each one.

  19. Each one special, unique and beautiful. You have such a good eye for choosing and showing off nature Calee. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. So many beautiful colors and patterns! I like how you presented them, as well. Alas, we mostly have slugs (snails without shells) and there is nothing beautiful about them!

    August 6, 2013 at 6:07 PM

    • Thanks Janet! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m no fan of slugs either, especially not the Spanish Slug who destroys everything in the garden..
