alba

I keep Lamprocapnos spectabilis Alba flowers on my balcony, and right now they’re in full bloom. Love spring! 😀

  2. Bleeding heart we call it, lovely. I have one of those in the garden, but it is red, much smaller and only just coming into bloom 🙂

    • My parents have them in their garden, but pink ones. 🙂 They have many names (see text under the picture), but I think Bleeding heart is the most common one. Only the white ones are called Alba.

  7. We had the pink bleeding hearts in our garden, but unfortunately it died. Must remember to replace it 😊

    • I wish I had a garden! I would fill it with trees, flowers and vegetables. On lazy days could just take pictures in the garden instead of bicycling all over town 🙂

      • We grow veg in the garden and the greenhouse. We have mixed success but it is fun. I should really do a small photo project based on our garden.

  10. Calee, this is really beautiful.
We see mostly the pink/red ones here, so this one is really special for me to see.

    • Thanks so much, Lisa! I think the pink ones are more common, but I like the white Alba more I think 🙂 When the light is right, the white hearts glow!

    • Thanks Ed! Yes, I saw your post from 3000+ ft level. My balcony flowers are about 6ft above sea level 😉

What a gorgeous shot! Really love that you captured their alignment magnificently 😀 And oh, I was having fun memorizing the scientific name of this flower …”lamprocapnos spectabilis…” Ahahaha!

    • Thanks so much, Mike! It’s getting warmer and sunnier over here and the Alba flowers glow in the light 🙂

  17. Lovely! I’d like some of these white ones for my shaded area. The red bleeding hearts are the most common here. 🙂 Ed from Thoughts from the Road is my son! 🙂

    • Thanks for visiting and the ‘likes’! 🙂 Ed’s one of the first people I “met” when I started blogging last year. I love to watch his pictures from the road (and sometimes at home!) 🙂

    • Thanks Emily! They’re pretty, aren’t they? I miss having a garden, but I keep a lot of flowers on my balcony to compensate 😉

  19. Beautiful photo. We have a really nice bleeding heart in our backyard that has been the subject of quite a few of my photos. It is a red one and honestly until my dad moved up from Texas to Wisconsin and bought a house I thought they were all red (shows how much I know about plants). However, his new house came with a beautiful white bleeding heart that captivated me. Normally we would be seeing our bleeding heart in bloom by now but it has been such a cold spring.

    • Thanks Rob! It’s been a long, cold winter and spring over here as well, but suddenly it changed and everything started blooming! A few weeks ago I was still wearing my winter coat, today I’ve been walking outside in shorts and t-shirt. 🙂 I hope yours start blooming soon too!
