yellow
I’ve had no luck identifying this little yellow bird, does anyone know? European Greenfinch. (Thanks Nina!) Picture taken with PowerShot in the national park Zuid-Kennemerland.
ps. I’m off for a short holiday in Italy. Back next week!

Picture shows all identiying marks which is a good thing. However, I do not know european birds and I see that someone gave it the name of European Greenfinch. Pretty little bird. Good shot.

Thanks Yvonne! I suspected it was a finch but I made the mistake of searching for “yellow finch”, I think this one looks more yellow than green, but.. 🙂

What a pretty little bird! Great shot, I imagine they move around a lot!

Thanks! They’re difficult to catch on camera; they’re so small and fast, doing that “now you see me, now you don’t” thing 🙂

Very sweet bird! I love how he stands out in the simple setting. Very elegant! Have a wonderful visit in Italy!

Superb shot, your new camera has an fantastic zoom..:-)
October 24, 2012 at 1:39 AM
Thanks Ed! 🙂 I was so far away I could barely see the bird with the naked eye, and I still didn’t zoom to max to take this shot.

Just remember the more zoom you yse the more shakey the lens gets. When I had my ultra zoom point and shoot I rarely went beyond 80% of the zoom. Can’t wait to see what you find next..:-)

My first thought was : a “sijsje” – don’t know the name in English :). But this one is definitely green. Have a great time in Italy.

Thanks Patricia! Not far off; a Sijsje is called Eurasian Siskin in English and it’s also a finch.
