I entered a Summer Photo Contest, didn’t win any prize but the picture’s shown here. Except for the winner, no names are mentioned but do you recognize which one’s mine? Anyway, summer’s gone and here’s another autumn shot:

  1. I see in this picture a statement about the reality of humanity as one of many kinds of nature, not separate from the rest of nature, and at least sometimes in a sweet kind of harmony as found in this picture.

  2. Stairs have never looked so good! My favorite picture from the contest link is: “Summer Flower” – what else can one expect from a greenlightlady?

The dog was my second choice… So, which one was yours?

    • Sweet Wendy! šŸ™‚ The flower’s mine. I think my favorite is the one that won, it has such a happy feeling in it!

  3. Wow. The contest had some nice photos that captured different aspects of summer. Is summer more about feelings, or about beauty, or about energy, or about brilliant colors? Summer is all of them, which gave the judges an impossible job of picking a single winner. Those of us who have followed your blog photos should have had no problem in identifying the flower photo as yours. It has beauty and simplicity, rich colors and a shallow depth of field, all of which I tend to associate with your photos. You continue to post beautiful images, as evidenced by the photo of the fall leaves on the steps.

    • Thanks so much, Mike!! Indeed, “summer” could be everything and it must’ve been a hard job for the jury. When I look at the other photos, they’re so good and I feel a bit like a fraud because I used the auto mode to take mine šŸ˜‰ *shhh* But I’m glad it was mentioned anyway!

  5. Summer Flower, I picked it before I read it was yours. I have a thing for flowers, as I think you do also. They are all winners.

  10. It’s the flower, of course! Seen and presented as only you can. It takes courage to enter a contest and put your work out to be judged – so congratulations on submitting your work. Your photo of the stairs is lovely – the grays in the stone are such a wonderful backdrop to the colors of the leaves.

    • Thank you! Yes, it’s a bit unnerving to be judged like that but I’m happy I did it!

  11. Let me think…..wouldn’t be the “Summer Flower” would it….;0). Nice shot and to get a mention is good going…..the standard of the others shots is pretty high!
